This pop-up boutique was the perfect opportunity to finally meet and interact with my clients on the other side of the Atlantic.
Products from the line, were available for clients to test drive them in order to feel their full potential. Trying them, usually means falling in love with them!
Revealing women's natural beauty with color
I am fascinated by women's natural beauty and the techniques used to enhance it. Showing off their skin tone, eyes and complexion without letting color dominate, ever... I want people to say a woman is beautiful and not that she has a beautiful hair color. Every woman must be welcomed in the same way: I analyze their faces and the nature of their hair so I can work with pigments, light and contrasts to find them the most natural-looking hair color. Over the years, I have tried to develop my product range for colored hair, based on the properties of rare or ancestral natural resources (prickly pear oil, lavender, chamomile and lemon) to offer deep nourishing treatments for hair that also maintain vibrant color. Some of my products can now be used for skin as well as for the hair, for both men and women.
My new range of 4 wooden brushes with natural boar bristles
Because a gentle brush is crucial, I created a range of handcrafted wooden brushes with natural boar bristles. The wood in all of these brushes is sanded and polished by hand to ensure top quality. Each of the four brushes in the range have been created exclusively with natural boar bristles, which are known to be superior to synthetic.
Launch of my finish lotion range
On a quest for health and wellbeing, I consulted nutritionists who, to my astonishment, advised me to drink vinegar mixed with water every day. I then discovered Four Thieves vinegar and the benefits associated with this age-old remedy. I wanted to study the cosmetic properties associated with vinegars, so I asked my formulators to use ancient recipes for inspiration to create a product that responds fully to men and women's modern-day requirements. As a result, we came up with three lotions: a lotion with pure hibiscus vinegar, a lotion with pure fruit vinegar and a lotion with sage vinegar. Multi-purpose miracle products!
Launch of the Intense Regenerating Balm with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil
I wanted a multi-purpose balm that worked wonders on skin and hair. Its luxurious texture is rich in rare prickly pear seed oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, rice bran oil and almond butter and is 99% concentrated in active ingredients. It is ideal for texturizing and nourishing hair to help recreate Gisele Bündchen's divine look.
Votre Beauté Gold Medal for the Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt
I often noticed that women suffered from itching and feelings of discomfort during and after coloring at my salon. Until now, the only effective solution to avoid these troublesome effects was using coarse salt dissolved in water and applied during rinsing. Inspired by this observation and the remedy used, I worked with my formulators to create a specific product designed for sensitive and oily scalps. My cleansing purifying scrub contains sea salt, a natural exfoliant, combined with hydrating active ingredients to help absorb all the polluting particles that suffocate the hair base, while calming scalp irritation. It has become the ideal accompaniment for scalp detox treatments! This scrub won the Votre Beauté 2014 Gold Medal.
Creation of the Intense Regenerating Mask with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil
During a trip to Morocco, I was seduced by myths surrounding the benefits of an oil that is relatively unknown in the West. Everyone has heard of argan oil and its properties but there is another oil that is rarer and more powerful. Prickly pear seed oil is an incredible oil, which has been known throughout the Middle East since the dawn of time. Its extremely light texture and finish won me over and I asked my formulators to incorporate it into the product. I wanted the packaging to reflect this exceptional oil, so I chose a luxury coral-colored box. The hair mask also contains a repairing agent that is 100% natural and SLS-free to reconstruct hair from the inside, smoothing away frizz and restoring its radiant shine.
Launch of the Rose range
I've always loved my garden in Brittany with its overflowing roses. I wanted to use their repairing, antioxidant and soothing properties in my hair care products. Rose hip, Centifolia rose and Gallic rose. All three are of special value in my eyes thanks to their repairing, antioxidant and soothing properties. I wanted to incorporate these benefits in my product formulas. These are unique products in the hair volumizer market as they don't contain alcohol or volumizing ingredients, and offer long-lasting hold. Perfect for instant volume!
Launching my hair color products
These colors included 5 different shades: baby blonde, golden blonde, chic red, warm chestnut and ash brown. These were the first products of their kind on the market. Enriched in Buriti oil and almond butter with no ammonia, these products provide color protection and nourish hair deeply. I'm particularly proud of this range!
The opening of my salon at Le Meurice
I left my bijou salon on Rue du Mont Thabor to invest in the 128-129 suite on the first floor of Le Meurice Hotel. This suite became a haven of luxury and peace for women, where they could truly enjoy the time dedicated to their hair.
Expert colorist at L’Oreal
Since the start of my career, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with major hair color brands (John Frieda's Sheer Blonde range, Schwartzkopf Professional and Tamaris in Japan). I've been working with L’Oreal Paris since 2004. I'm proud to assist their marketing teams and laboratories in the development of new ranges and shades.
Creation of my specialist hair care range for colored and sensitive hair
In 1999, I launched my first hair care range for colored and sensitive scalp. Some of my products have become iconic today, like my moisturizing hair oil with lavender and my cleansing mask with lemon. At the time, my formulator assured me: "These are the best formulas but you'll never be able to sell them!" Today, they are my bestsellers. They are essential for maintaining healthy hair and just as important as moisturizer is for the skin. These were the first detergent-free formulas for gentle and effective cleansing. Kind to hair, these products offer instant pleasure as well as long-lasting treatment. This was avant-garde hair care at a time when shampoos containing sulfates were boycotted for their corrosive effects on hair.
When I met Catherine Deneuve...
The salon's first clients were supermodels. They were followed by the first actresses: Vanessa Paradis, Kristin Scott Thomas... Then one day, I got a telephone call: "Hi, this is Catherine Deneuve". That day was a turning point in my career. I had a Donkey Skin poster in my room when I was a child. My heart was pounding as I heard her say: "I saw Claudia Schiffer's hair at a dinner party. My color isn't working for me, so I'd like to make an appointment". Catherine Deneuve was the first but other stars followed: Faye Dunaway, Jeanne Moreau and Emmanuelle Béart. I have had the honor of maintaining Catherine's iconic blond hair ever since.
...and then the cinema
I soon discovered the demands of cinema. The contrasts had to be stronger in front of the camera. Hair needed uniform color protection so that the lighting would bring it to life. I experimented with radical and challenging color changes, like Kristin Scott Thomas' blond hair in The English Patient.
The opening of my first salon dedicated to coloring
1995 was an important year for me thanks to these icons who are still my clients today. I was 24 when I opened my first salon, in a small courtyard off rue du Mont Thabor. It was a beautiful but tiny salon. It covered just 24 m2, with one styling station and two wash units. It was like playing musical chairs! This was my first salon but also the first ever hair studio dedicated to color. A year I'll never forget.
The Supermodel era
I had just turned 18 when I arrived in Paris to begin working on producing advertisements for Jean-Louis David. I then had the opportunity to create Stephanie Seymour's color on behalf of L'Oreal. The color was subtle and I mainly focused on her hair's radiance, but it ended up having a huge snowball effect! After that came Elle Macpherson, Claudia Schiffer... This was the beginning of the supermodel era, the trendsetters of the time. They used color to reinvent themselves. I was responsible for all their color changes. Color became a beauty accessory.
My early career in Bar-sur-Aube
I started my apprenticeship when I was 15 in a little salon in Bar-sur-Aube. Back then, the salon manager Dominique told me, "you have to become a good colorist because there are many great hairstylists out there already." She also introduced me to the key idea very early on that hair coloring goes hand in hand with impeccable hair maintenance, in the same way that healthy skin affects the beauty of makeup. I stayed there for 2 years and then went to work at Jean-Louis David in Troyes.
